2012 Convention & SDCC Exclusive My Little Pony is (gasp) NOT named Derpy

My Little Pony fans, especially fans of Friendship is Magic, went wild when they saw 2012’s convention exclusive pony. Attendees of the My Little Pony Fair Collector’s Convention and the San Diego Comic Convention (also referred to as SDCC or just Comic Con), got an exclusive chance to snag this pony:

The wonky eyes. The bubble cutie mark. The muffins. Surely this is the character FiM fans have dubbed Derpy Hooves (sometimes known as Ditzy Doo)?

While fans of the show  may know her as Derpy in their hearts, this pony is still controversial and Hasbro and the Hub both seem to want distance from the fan given name. As a result, this 2012 exclusive pony, like many of the exclusive ponies of the past, is officially unnamed. Will she remain nameless for all time or will Hasbro eventually settle on an official name for this brony favorite?

For now, she’s joined the ranks of ponies officially named one thing, but commonly called another by collectors.

Did you manage to snag your very own Derpy, er, I mean, 2012 Convention Exclusive My Little Pony this year? If you haven’t snagged one yet, there are plenty up for grabs already on eBay.

Chuck E. Cheese: Where a kid can be a… My Little Pony?

In the 80s and 90s, My Little Pony had a special promotion going with Chuck E. Cheese restaurants. One of your prize options was… a special My Little Pony with the Chuck E. Cheese logo symbol on her rump exclusive to Chuck E. Cheese locations. (Symbols are what cutie marks used to be called, youngster. ;-))

She’s a pretty collectible G1 pony because of her rarity but I think she’s unusual for another reason. She’s the one and only MLP to ever have a corporate logo on her rump!

Doesn’t everyone like a little pony with their pizza?

My Little Pony Facebook page unveils a San Diego Comic Con exclusive Friendship is Magic poster

Collectors and fans, get ready to drool! In addition to the convention exclusive pony, the Hasbro booth at the SDCC will also have this limited edition poster:

I have a feeling these are going to be pretty pricey on eBay after the event…

As an added bonus, it makes a pretty sweet desktop background or wallpaper! 😉

Summer Hayes's MLP Corner

  • Free MLP (or other Hasbro toy) with $20 purchase!
SpottedSlug posted about a promotion that Hasbro is running through December 25th 2010 and January 31st 2011. Basically you buy a Hasbro toy or game, fill in a form and send it in with your original receipt and they’ll send you a free toy. The form lets you pick your top three toy lines and Hasbro will send you a toy from one of the lines you choose.

I wonder what they’ll be sending out as their free products. Hopefully, the stores around me will actually stock some new products so I can make a purchase and fill out my own redemption form to find out.

Here is the link for the redemption form and if you send one in let me know what they send you!

  • 2011 My Little Pony Fair Dates and Location Announced!
I am pleased to announce that the 2011 My Little Pony Fair and Collector’s Convention will take place on July 22-23rd at Hasbro’s Headquarters in Rhode Island. Additional information will be released in the coming weeks!
  • My Little Pony Keds!
Okay, while these are not an officially licensed My Little Pony product, they are awesome! I’m thinking they would make great summertime shoes for hanging out at the lake, beach, or a pony event (like My Little Pony Fair 2011).

I love how they name the shoe styles not by the pony name (since they are obviously skirting around copyrights) and instead name them by pony characteristics. For example, the “Dashing in the Clouds” shoe is obviously designed after Rainbow Dash, “Fresh Picked Apples” is designed after Applejack, etc.

They are being sold for $65 and I love them. I only wish I had discovered them before I made my Christmas list!

San Diego Comic Convention Exclusive (SDCC 2010): Graffiti Tagged My Little Pony

The Comic Con ponies have been one of my favorite sets of the third generation so I was totally excited to see what they had cooked up this year.

Here is the 2010 Comic Con exclusive pony that only attendees of the San Diego Comic Convention will be able to buy (at least, until they start showing up on eBay):

My first reaction? I totally dig her.

My second reaction? I’m kinda bummed them moved away from the superhero theme but it’s OK, she’s still hella cool. I know white and purple has been done before but I love the overall effect.

But what you do think? Will you be trying to grab one on eBay after the fact?
