What’s the deal with the Super Secret My Little Pony Guide Sale?

With the My Little Pony Convention coming up, Priced Nostalgia Press’s popular My Little Pony price guides for collectors from Summer Hayes are in high demand. Between Facebook, Twitter and the site proper, we’ve got such a great community here that I wanted to be able to do something to give MLP Collecting readers a little something extra. I pulled a few strings and was able to get Priced Nostalgia to agree to a VERY special discount just for readers of this site.

But here’s the catch: the discount is so good that we have to limit it only to readers so I’ve had to literally lock it down in a password protected post so the publisher doesn’t get in trouble with bookstores.

So here’s how you take advantage of this special sale:

  1. DM us on Twitter (@mlpcollecting) to ask for the password or grab it from Facebook here.
  2. Log into the password protected post here.
  3. Purchase as many books as you want and take advantage of the combined shipping deals in addition to the discounts. But we can only offer it through July 1st so please get your orders in soon to avoid disappointment.

Even if you already have the books, you may want to check out these prices anyway. It might be worth it to grab a copy to use for trade later.

Sorry for the subterfuge but I think you’ll find that it’s worth the extra work. ;-)

Hasbro says: My Little Pony animated special and yet another “new look”

Hasbro sent out a Press Release yesterday. You can read the entire thing here but I just want to chop out the bits about My Little Pony below:

The Entertainment & Licensing (E&L) division of Hasbro, Inc. /quotes/comstock/13*!has/quotes/nls/has (HAS 37.79, -0.63, -1.64%) will arrive at the International Licensing Expo in Las Vegas on June 8, 2010, with new and innovative licensing programs supporting global powerhouse brands such as TRANSFORMERS, NERF, LITTLEST PET SHOP, MY LITTLE PONY, MONOPOLY and PLAYSKOOL. The company will showcase major entertainment and lifestyle licensing initiatives underway in the areas of television, movies, digital gaming, performance sports, and apparel as well as programs that are driving increased market traction in key international territories, including France, Mexico and China.

On the entertainment front, the upcoming new children’s and family television network, The Hub, recently announced its first wave of television programming for its launch on October 10, 2010 (10-10-10). HASBRO STUDIOS is producing several Hasbro-inspired animated and live-action series including: “My Little Pony Friendship is Magic,” “Transformers Prime,” “G.I. JOE Renegades,” “Pound Puppies,” “The Adventures of Chuck and Friends,” and “Family Game Night,” featuring a variety of classic and enduring Hasbro games. The Hasbro and Discovery Communications joint venture cable television network will feature original programming as well as content from Discovery’s library of award-winning children’s educational programming, and from leading third-party producers worldwide. At launch, The Hub will reach approximately 60 million U.S. households. Additionally, HASBRO STUDIOS will extend the global reach of Hasbro-branded programming to other international broadcast markets in 2010 and beyond.

Hasbro, in association with its movie studio partners, also has several motion pictures underway for 2011 and 2012 theater releases. “Transformers 3″ from DreamWorks Pictures and Paramount Pictures, is set to debut on July 1, 2011 and Universal Pictures will bring iconic super hero STRETCH ARMSTRONG and an epic BATTLESHIP film to the big screen in summer 2012.

“Hasbro continues to deliver on the company’s commitment to create innovative and immersive global brand experiences that resonate with consumers around the world,” said John Frascotti, Global Chief Marketing Officer at Hasbro. “We’ve re-invented our brands and put them at consumers’ fingertips for anytime, anywhere entertainment.”

In addition to the exciting entertainment-driven lineup, E&L is also expanding Hasbro brands worldwide in key lifestyle licensing categories. Below are highlights: Continue reading

Comic Con 2009 My Little Pony Mentions

ONE FOR THE GIRLS: Bonnie Zacherle, one of the original ‘My Little Pony’ designers, signs an autograph and draws a pony for a youngster during an appearance at Hasbro’s booth. [SOURCE]

One audience member asked [Todd] McFarlane if he could draw a “My Little Pony” sketch for his wife, as several other Image creators – including Kirkman – have already contributed. “I might be able to do it, but you must realize that Todd’s ‘My Little Pony’ is slightly different than everybody else’s,” he joked. “Dark form with the big thorns coming in, then you take that big stretchy tail and strangle people… ‘My Little Pony,’ this!” [SOURCE]

Meanwhile, over in Villainville, Dr. Doom and the Lethal Legion are plotting to take over the world. To give you an idea of what kinds of villainy we’re dealing with, they did a special cast reading at the convention. It’s plot: Dr. Doom’s quest to acquire an exclusive My Little Pony collectible. The series kicks off with a four-episode marathon on Cartoon Network September 19, and I’m strangely very excited about it. [SOURCE] and [SOURCE]

Dress-Up Pose: What does the heart & clothing hanger symbol on a My Little Pony’s foot mean?

Have you come across a pony with this symbol on the bottom of one of her legs?

That special symbol designates that the pony that bears it is in the Dress-Up pose. Introduced in 2008, this symbol indicates a pony that can fit into special molded clothing and accessory pieces. The presence of this symbol means that this pony can freely trade these molded clothing pieces with any other similarly marked pony.

Most of the ponies released in 2008 were in a Dress-Up pose.

Dress-Up ponies, as well as their clothing pieces, are covered in greater detail in The My Little Pony 2007-2008 Collector’s Inventory.

We have a winner in our Twitter contest!

Our first ever Twitter contest had a pretty decent turn out all things considered and we want to thank everyone who participated.

But, like vampire slayers and Highlander-esqu immortals, there can only be one. . . winner that is!

So give a big congrats to snpypez! Our random winner selector (Excel running a random command if you are curious) pulled her name out of the proverbial hat so she gets a free copy of The My Little Pony 2007-2008 Collector’s Inventory for her very own.

If you didn’t win this time around, don’t worry! This contest was just a little taste of what is to come so please subscribe to MyLittlePonyCollecting.com via email or RSS and stay tuned for more contests both on Twitter and off.
