I thought we could settle this issue once and for all. In the beginning, female FiM wanted to be called “bronies” as well, despite the obvious male connection to the name and many still do. At the time, a mini war irrupted in the comments because some insisted that female fans should instead be called fillies.

Now, two articles in a row have labeled female fans as pegasisters which does make sense because of the whole bro/sis connection.

I pose this question to you, the actual female MLP fans. What do you prefer to be called? What do you think of yourself as?

    I call myself a brony just for fun. *shrug* Even though I’m female, it really doesn’t matter. Brony is a term for FIM, and not the 80′s cartoon show. (Honestly, I thought brony was short for Brother Pony BECAUSE of the 80′s cartoon… go figure.)

    I don’t want to be called any of those things. It’s not that I have anything against new fans of the show be they male or female but it just seems like its mainly because the herd of male FIM fans that suddenly came into MLP that we now have this fancy labeling system. I’m still trying to understand why because there have always been guys who liked MLP. So why the heck are we suddenly all labeling and arguing about what to call each other? I mean ya know, never needed to label myself and I’ve been collecting and a fan of MLP since 1983. It just seems pretty weird on some level to sit around and decide if I’m a brony or a pegasiswhatever. I think maybe I’m just to old for that kinda crap :p So I’ll let the kids fight it out on the playground what label they want to attach to themselves or me.

    I would just like to be referred to as a “pony”, with men as “bronies”.  Pegasister is a fairly new term to me, and it doesn’t sound very good, haha.

    I consider myself a brony, I’ve gone to meetups and such. If I am introducing myself I elaborate further and call myself a “filly” so that there is no confusion but I consider “filly” part of “brony” and not mutually exclusive. I hate the term pegasister, and I don’t like that people are even considering it.

    I don’t want a label.  I just want to be a fan, a collector.  I agree with Karentheunicorn, suddenly we have a crapload of new fans with a need to label and meme everything.  Not that memes or the name “brony” are bad, it’s just… I really don’t want to be a pegasister.

    I call myself ‘brony.’ The whole point behind the fandom is to unite the fans in friendship – not divide them. I feel that calling girl bronies ‘pegasisters’ or ‘fillies’ (which is pretty dismissive, I feel, since a filly is an underage horse; it would be like calling us “men” and “girls”) is a little too much like emphasizing how much we are different, instead of similar. I’ve always been able to clarify by saying that I’m a Brony who’s a girl, if anyone gets confused.

    I personally do not like the term pegasister but I also like to be called a brony because that is the more known name and is more associated with mlp

    I prefer to be called a brony i guess because its the most common term. ironically enough in my group of brony friends there’s about 4 or 5 of us that are on the net…no surprise i’m the only girl in the group. lol i like the idea of a pegasister because i’m not really a “bro”. eh… either or honestly. most girls are called bronies these days because one word needs to fit the majority, girls this time around are in the minority.
